With Week 1 of the regular season in the books teams can now sign free agents to a contract without having to guarantee that player's annual salary. For example, the New York Jets released quarterback Brady Quinn on Saturday intent on re-signing him after the conclusion of Week 1 regular season games so that they wouldn't be obligated to guarantee him his annual salary; Quinn was re-signed by the Jets this afternoon.
